Daybreak Corporate Center–the First Platinum LEED® Project in Utah
Sahara is being recognized for having built Daybreak Corporate Center—officially the first platinum LEED® project in the state of Utah. Daybreak Corporate Center is the first commercial building in Daybreak’s Village Center. This is a 180,000 s.f. three-story office building with a detached 556-stall parking garage. This LEED® certification required innovative building techniques such as photovoltaics (solar cells) and wind turbines to provide some of the power to the building. We were also able to build with unique materials on the exterior such as Ipe wood, metal panels and pre-cast, board-formed concrete panels. The exterior lighting was designed in such a way as to reduce light pollution in the night sky. Reflective surfaces were also used extensively to reduce the heat-island effect that a typical office building produces.
