This 156,000 sf store was the first WalMart built on the Islands. It was constructed on a six-month construction schedule, which was complicated by the fact that all materials and products had to be shipped on barges from the mainland. This was a joist and beam block building with steel joist trusses. The store was built with 100% union labor. Sahara was the only non-union contractor on the project. |
