Sahara, Inc. is dedicated to providing superior construction management services, and to bettering the communities in which it operates. In 1985, Thomas Mabey, the founder and principal, created a company with commitment and service as unique as its name. Since it began, Sahara has devoted itself to not only building quality projects, but also to leaving a legacy of excellence in the communities in which we all live and work.
Sahara is an organization built on a foundation of strong relationships. As a company we believe we must practice loyalty, integrity, and commitment at home and within our organization, if we are to effectively share those values with our customers and clients. We also believe that as we serve our Sahara associates, we become better prepared to serve those in our broader communities. Sahara serves its associates by providing a disciplined career path that produces competent construction professionals. All Sahara associates undergo extensive leadership, technical, and personal development training. Our associates take the skills they have acquired and use them to serve our industry and our individual communities.
A culture based on serving one another fosters an environment where proactivity, quality, and innovation flourish. True expertise in our diverse and technical business can only come through collaboration between everyone involved in the process. This means we must apply the experience of the owner, the designers, subcontractors, and suppliers in a cooperative, professional manner to over project.
During the last three decades, Sahara has participated in many unique and challenging projects. Sahara’s experience includes projects in the Automotive Industry, Sports and Recreation, Theaters, Public Safety, Office, Retail, Hospitality, Industrial, Residential, Medical, Educational, and Mixed Use. Specific projects include The Energy Solutions Arena (Home of the Utah Jazz); The Miller Motor Sports Park (International Motor Sports Facility of the Year in 2006); the BYU-Idaho Performing Arts Center; the LHM Megaplex Theaters; the Kennecott Corporate Headquarters; and the SLCC Public Justice and Culinary Arts Complex. Sahara has also constructed projects outside of the Utah market such as Arrowhead Lexus (Peoria, AZ.), The San Juan Detention Center (Aztec, New Mexico), and the San Tan Justice Courts (Chandler, AZ.).
Sahara provides a full spectrum of services including Development Assistance, Design Build, Construction Management Agency, and Construction Management at Risk. Our goal is to share our knowledge, experience, unique leadership and management approach, and our commitment to community service with as many people as we can.
